Church Covenant
What is a church covenant?
Our church covenant is the statement we commit to as members of Priory Park Baptist Church. God has asked us to be devoted to one another (Romans 12:10) and to serve one another in love (Galatians 5:13), and so this covenat spells out how we will do that for one another in our spiritual community.
Text of the Covenant
We, the people of God at Priory Park Baptist Church, covenant one with another to strive, God helping us:
To worship Him, only, in spirit and in truth and to assemble regularly in the name of Jesus Christ;
To encourage one another continually to hear the convicting and healing Word of God through preaching and teaching and through meditation on the Scripture so that all may enjoy the new life given each believer in Jesus Christ;
To participate regularly in the celebration of the Lord’s Supper;
To serve the Lord together in gladness through a selfless, Christ-like lifestyle of sharing with each other our spiritual gifts, abilities, time, possessions and trust;
To work for honest, open and loving relationships with all in our church family;
To work for honest, open and loving relationships with all the members of our own families;
To nurture the children in our church family especially by directing their minds and hearts to Jesus Christ;
To work together to fulfill the great commission by proclaiming the Good News of Jesus Christ through word and deed, and by supporting our missionaries in locations throughout the world;
To be a neighbour, as Jesus defined this word, to those persons in need of a neighbour regardless of where they live or who they are; and,
To pray with praise and thanksgiving to our Lord God for Who He is and for His blessings in all things, and to intercede for friends and enemies alike.
